Arnold is an adorable ball of cottony fluff that deserves the love and goodness of a great adopter with love in their hearts and an understanding that acclimation to a new life can take a bit of time.
Our sweet Arnold has had a challenging time in his short life. Shelters are terrifying to a little guy who doesn't understand why he's in this terribly loud and scary place. A long transport from Houston to Boulder is equally so but worth everything to get Arnold to a safe and nurturing environment. Through all the changes, this pup has never shown an ounce of aggression or meanness. It's as if he knows that a far better life is waiting for him.
At just about 2 years old and 25 lbs, Arnold is a perfect size for a retired couple or individual. He would thrive on the time and attention that this group often put into their doggy best friends. A younger individual that works from a home-based office (to cuddle Arnold periodically over the course of the day) would also be perfect for a little guy who is searching for love and acceptance in his life. With patience and without a time agenda, Arnold will emerge and slowly his fears will slip away as he bonds with his new family.
Arnold, coming to understand that he is loved and cherished, will become a loyal and bonded guy knowing that his environment is a safe and nurturing one. Since every dog's basic nature is to be loving, once this guy blossoms, he'll fall deeply in love with his family and become a very loyal and bonded best friend.
Our wish for Arnold is a family that understands, and is patient with a dog that has gone through challenges and unkindness in his life. Farfel's has made a commitment to this wonderful dog, as we do with all our rescues, that we'll search until we find a forever family that will love, nurture and commit to him for the remainder of his life.
At this point in Arnold's development, he would love to be a full-time best friend, but will hold back a bit until he's sure that the recipient of his love is kind. If treated with patience during his acclimation to his new family and life, this sweet guy will absolutely shine.
Farfel's will nurture a positive vision of the world by matching Arnold to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Arnold, when ready, to attend positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. These classes develop very strong bonds between a family and their dog as well as teaching skills to enable that dog to socialize in the world with appropriate behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.
Right now Arnold is a blank slate who, with guidance, will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Arnold (once comfortable) is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion. He would love nothing than backyard lounging and fun with his favorite people or just lap-sitting at the end of a busy day would be perfect for this very loving guy. Arnold will be flexible enough once comfortable that he can be introduced to virtually any situation, and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed.
Arnold, with his gorgeous, non-shedding or very lightly shedding coat will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition to keep his hair healthy and matte-free. There has been extensive new research that a human-grade, natural diet will provide a healthier (far fewer vet visits) and longer life for our best friends. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with the health of our own dogs. We wish the same for every dog we rescue.
Arnold has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth in the canine community.
Arnold will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/2/2026. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this cuddly and sweet as can be best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Arnold please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
