DESCRIPTION

Some best friends are just meant to stay together...and that's exactly the case for Tia and Tito. These adorable 2 year old, 8 pound Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier mixes have spent their entire lives side by side, and they're looking for a forever family who will welcome them both with open arms.

Because they are a bonded pair, Tia and Tito must be adopted together. They have always lived together, and while we don't know if they're related (or how they might be if they are), one thing is certain, and that is that they absolutely adore each other and find comfort, confidence, and happiness in always having their best friend nearby.

Their story is sad, and sadly all too common. Their family in New Mexico surrendered them to a crowded, high-kill shelter when they had to move and couldn't take their dogs with them. Their family had one request: please don't separate Tia and Tito. They knew how closely the two were bonded and couldn't bear the thought of them losing each other, too.

Thankfully, Farfel's Rescue was able to step in, and Tia and Tito made their way to Colorado in early June. They've been living with a wonderful foster family ever since, and they have absolutely blossomed. We have no idea why they haven't been adopted yet! These two sweeties are perfect.

Their foster home has another small dog, and Tia and Tito are thrilled to have another doggy friend to play with every day. They are fantastic with other dogs and would love a home with another friendly pup, although they would be just as happy as long as they have each other.

Both Tia and Tito are house trained, affectionate, and incredibly easy to love. They settled into foster care quickly and have become wonderful little house guests who love playing and snuggling.

Tia, the orange and white girl, is a bit shy when meeting new people. She can be a little shy at first, but never unfriendly! Give her just 10 or 15 minutes, and her sweet, loving personality shines through. Once she knows you, she's a total cuddle bug who wants to be close to her people.

Tito, the tan-and-white boy, is a bit more outgoing and confident. He's happy to greet new friends and helps show Tia that new people are nothing to worry about. Together, they make the perfect little team, and balance each other out perfectly.

From Tia and Tito's foster:
"These two are such sweet babies. They're both incredibly sweet and have such gentle, loving personalities!
They do great with Teddy (my dog) and LOVE to play altogether. Tia and Tito are almost always side by side and love to snuggle each other. It's cute how much they love each other!
They have also blossomed beautifully in the home. Tia was shy and a bit scared at first, but she's doing really great now! She really only took a day to feel comfortable! She looks up to her brother, who is incredibly social and always looking for love, so he teaches her that she is safe!
These two are both fully potty trained, and very well behaved in the home. They stay loose when I leave and are totally fine. They're good little dogs!"

Adopting a bonded pair is often much easier than adopting one! Tia and Tito keep each other company, help ease transitions, and provide built-in companionship, which can mean less loneliness and a smoother adjustment into a new home. They sleep together (unless of course their family's bed is available), cuddle together, and truly make an irresistible little team.

Tia and Tito are searching for a kind, loving home that will cherish them both and keep them together forever. After everything they've endured, they deserve nothing less than safety, stability, and pure love for the rest of their lives.

Farfel's Rescue and our New Mexico rescue partners would love to see Tia and Tito in a home with someone who works from home or is retired. We'd hate to see them left alone all day while their family works full-time outside of the home, as they are much too social and sensitive for that type of arrangement.

We feel that an excellent placement for Tia and Tito is in a home where they'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and of course, nothing but love. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving training choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.

Tia and Tito are both up to date on their vaccinations, have been fully vetted, are in excellent health, heart worm negative, and neutered / spayed to support Farfel's commitment to a "home for every dog" future in the canine population.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pair. If interested in these gorgeous, silly and very cuddly best friends, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

FARFEL'S FARM & RESCUE: DOG SHELTER & RESCUE

Farfel’s Farm & Rescue was founded on the idea that each dog deserves a loving home and the chance for a happy life. We are so thrilled to be able to rescue these amazing dogs from urgent situations in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Cancun, Mexico. Working with a dedicated team of volunteers, the dogs are pulled from high-kill shelters because they’ve been recognized for the gifts they will bring to a loving family. They are then transported by specially licensed vans to Colorado for a second chance at life. The dogs are evaluated and treated for any medical issues before being transitioned to their new family, where they can become accustomed to having a family’s love, a warm bed and plenty of healthy food!
