Melody - Shepherd and Carolina Dog Dog for Adoption in Houston, Texas

Melody is a beautiful five-to-six-year-old, 60-pound German Shepherd mix with a stunning golden coat and an even more beautiful heart. She is thoughtful, incredibly intelligent, and forms deep bonds with the people she loves. She has had a rough road and deserves a loving family who will show her that she is safe and appreciated.

Melody was rescued, along with several siblings, after her human dad was arrested. She was found outside in bad condition. Once rescued, Melody was bathed, fed and given a comfortable fluffy bed, and she began to exhale. Because of her previous experience, Melody is thankful to be fed and can be a bit food aggressive. All you need to do is put her food down and leave it alone. She is thankful and a true sweetheart.

She loves long walks and has wonderful leash manners. Toss a tennis ball and she'll happily chase it, but once the fun is over, she's perfectly content to curl up beside you for an evening of cuddles. She has that wonderful Shepherd trait of wanting to be wherever her person is.

At the Rescue Ranch, Melody peacefully shares space with horses, cows, goats, and donkeys. She is dog-selective and would likely be happiest as your one and only dog, where she can soak up all the love she's waited so patiently to receive.

Melody is fostered near Houston, Texas, and her adoption fee is $300. We strongly suggest that anybody interested in Melody, meet her in person. She is a sweet, loving dog but, because she has been at our rescue for about 3 years, can be fearful when meeting new people in an unfamiliar location. A meet-and-greet will be a great introduction to this fabulous, loving dog.

If Melody's story touched your heart, please complete an adoption application. After approval, we'd be happy to arrange a FaceTime visit, preferably an in-person visit, so you can meet this incredible girl.
