Sapphire — She Started From Zero. Watch What She Does From Here.
Sapphire came to us feral. Untouched, unsocialized, and completely unknown to kindness. That is where her story started, and it is the least interesting thing about her.
In the time she has been with us, this girl has quietly, steadily revealed herself — and what is underneath all that early fear is soft and sweet and genuinely special. She is about six months old, a Shepherd mix, and she is the kind of dog whose progress makes everyone in the room stop and pay attention when it happens. She is not fully there yet. She is still shy with new people and new dogs, and the right home will understand that going in rather than being surprised by it. But the trajectory she is on is remarkable, and whoever adopts her gets to be part of what comes next.
Here is the key to Sapphire: treats. Specifically, treats in your hand and patience in your approach. The way to her heart is snacks and belly rubs and she is not remotely ashamed of either. When food is involved she warms up faster than you would expect, and once that initial bridge is built she crosses it fully. She does not do anything halfway. The shyness is real but so is everything waiting on the other side of it.
To be loved by a dog who had to learn to trust you first is one of the most profound things there is. Sapphire is learning. She is getting there. She just needs her person to show up and give her somewhere safe to land.
She is a gem. Literally and figuratively. And she is ready.
Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
