The world gave Marla every reason to become guarded, but she decided being happy sounded a lot more fun.
This 4-month-old Shepherd mix weighs just 15 pounds and has already overcome more than most dogs ever should. She was found left behind in an awful neighborhood, trapped in a wire crate without food or water. Despite the neglect and heartbreak she endured so early in life, Marla refuses to let her past define her. Instead, she greets life with a wagging tail, a bright spirit, and enough personality to light up an entire room.
Marla is friendly, outgoing, and wonderfully spunky. She doesn't believe in strangers for very long and is quick to make friends with everyone she meets. For a growing girl, Marla has an impressively big enthusiasm for life. She loves toys, never turns down a treat, and approaches every new experience with excitement and curiosity. She gets along well with other dogs and kids but prefers to go home without any cats.
The most remarkable thing about Marla is that she never let her difficult beginning dull her shine. Her sweetness survived. Her playful spirit remained intact. Her ability to trust and love stayed wide open. Marla is proof that resilience can come in small packages. Beneath her spunky personality is a puppy who simply wants what she always deserved from the beginning: a full belly, a safe place to sleep, toys to play with, and people who will love her for the rest of her life. She has already beaten the odds. Now all she needs is a family to show her that her happiest chapter is still waiting to be written.
Marla is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
