Rusty A Calm & Gentle Soul, Snuggles, Good w/Dogs, Scared of Fen - Retriever and Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Houston, Texas

Rusty was out of time at a high-intake shelter, where as many as 75 animals can arrive in a single day. Through no fault of his own, he was at risk simply because there wasn't enough space. The shelter staff knew him well and described him as an Amazing dog, so our rescue stepped in to give him the second chance he deserved.

Rusty is 4-5 years old and 55 pounds.

Rusty lives happily with two other dogs and three teenage boys. He's a Calm, Affectionate companion who loves to Snuggle on the couch with his foster family. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys playing, but he's just as happy relaxing by your side.

Rusty loves attention and happily sits still while being brushed. He's house-trained, crate-trained, and even enjoys lounging in his crate with the door open. His foster family describes him as Friendly, Gentle, and an all-around wonderful boy.

We are sure it is due to time spent homeless and also in the shelter, but he finds fences scary and will bark at what is on the other side. He has gone to training for this and is doing much better and proven to be such a love, he just is scared when he behind a fence and someone is on the other side and barks. Or maybe he loves his new situation so much he is just scared someone is coming to take him away.

Rusty's team from his shelter days have raised money to donate his transport AND $200 towards his adoption donation, meaning his total cost to transport and adopt is $250. Everyone so wants this boy to get his forever home and comfy bed.

He's ready to leave his past behind and start the next chapter of his life with people who will love him forever
