Flame - Pit Bull Terrier and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Yakima, Washington
FLAME
Pit Bull Terrier, Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Yakima, Washington
August 3rd
male, medium, adult
DESCRIPTION
Meet Flame, a two-year-old Pit mix weighing 55 pounds.
Flame's journey to the shelter began after the devastating White Swan fire, where he was found running loose with singed whiskers—a small reminder of what he had survived. When he arrived, he was very thin and had painful, infected paws, likely from cheat grass, suggesting he may have been on his own long before the fire. Despite it all, Flame has held onto his happy, loving spirit.
Today, Flame greets life with a wagging tail and a smile. He's friendly, affectionate, and always excited to earn a tasty treat. In fact, treats are one of the quickest ways to his heart, and he already knows the command "sit," making him a great candidate for learning even more.
Flame is the kind of dog who reminds you how resilient animals can be. After everything he's endured, he still chooses to trust, love, and enjoy each day. Now, all he needs is a family to show him what it's like to have a safe place to call home.
If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart, a happy outlook, and so much love to give, Flame is ready to leave the hardships of his past behind and start his brightest chapter yet.
This pet is available for adoption on 7/30/2026 10:09 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Pit Bull Terrier is a resilient and loyal breed known for its muscular build and loving nature.
