DESCRIPTION
CLIFFORD: THE NOT-SO-BIG RED DOG
We ordered Clifford the Big Red Dog.
What arrived was a 20-pound terrier mix who isnt particularly big OR red.
Close enough.
Meet Clifford!
At around 3 years old, Clifford is basically the travel-sized version of the childhood classic. Hes small enough to fit on your couch, big enough to steal your heart, and curious enough that we need to discuss his containment plan.
First, the good stuff:
Completely house trained!
Loves other dogs and would happily have a canine sibling.
Also perfectly capable of being your one-and-only. More attention for Clifford. Clifford approves.
Would do well with kids.
Walks nicely on a leash.
Loves people and wants to be included in whatever youre doing.
Kennel trained... with one tiny technicality.
You have to put him in there.
Clifford apparently believes kenneling himself is beneath his pay grade. Once you place him inside, though, he settles down without complaints.
And then theres his most impressive skill...
THE POOP ALARM.
Does Clifford stand politely by the door?
No.
Does Clifford gently whimper?
Absolutely not.
Clifford bites at your elbow when he needs to poop.
Is it conventional? No.
Is it effective communication? Also somehow yes.
Now for Cliffords one big requirement:
A FENCED YARD IS REQUIRED.
Clifford is a curious little dude, and sometimes curiosity tells him there are VERY IMPORTANT THINGS happening beyond his property line that require his immediate investigation.
A squirrel?
A leaf?
A suspicious-looking blade of grass three houses down?
Clifford needs answers.
So unlike the original Clifford, who was approximately the size of a three-story building and pretty difficult to misplace, our pocket-sized edition needs a securely fenced yard.
Clifford came into rescue absolutely terrified, but it didnt take him long to realize he was safe. Once he did, that sweet, silly personality started showing up — and we absolutely adore the little guy he turned out to be.
Hes funny.
Hes affectionate.
Hes dog friendly.
Hes house trained.
He comes equipped with a built-in poop notification system.
And unlike the OTHER Clifford...
you wont need a forklift to get him to the vet. Apply to meet Clifford the Not-So-Big, Not-Actually-Red Dog.
He may be the off-brand version...
but we think hes even better than the original.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Parson Russell Terrier is a spirited and intelligent breed known for their energetic nature and strong hunting instincts. These small to medium sized dogs have a compact, athletic build with a wiry coat that can be either smooth or rough. They are highly active and require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. With their playful demeanor and friendly personality, Parson Russell Terriers make loyal companions for active families who can provide them with the attention and exercise they need.
