Meet Rusty, a sweet, easygoing guy who is ready to leave the shelter behind and find a family of his own!

Rusty’s previous owner says he likes toys, strangers, and female dogs. He’s described as calm and lower-energy, making him the kind of guy who can enjoy some fun and playtime but is also perfectly happy taking things easy. He’s a little nervous when storms roll in, so he may appreciate having someone nearby to remind him that everything is okay.

Since coming into our care, we’ve gotten to see Rusty’s playful side, and this boy LOVES his tennis balls! There’s just something about a tennis ball that brings out his happy side. He’s a sweet guy who enjoys interacting with people and is getting more comfortable with us every day.

Rusty would love a home where he can have a nice routine, some toys to call his own, and people who will give him plenty of love and patience. His previous owner reports that he does well with female dogs, and as always, we recommend a meet-and-greet with any potential canine siblings.

We also want to give his future family a little insight into his house training. His previous owner said Rusty was somewhat house trained, with that being said it seems as if he was properly let out and on a schedule that he would be able to catch on quickly.

His future family doesn't need to be perfect — they just need to be patient, kind, and willing to show this sweet boy that he is deserving of love, comfort, and all the good things a dog should know, especially as he heads into his golden years. We would love nothing more than to see Rusty spend those years feeling safe, spoiled, and truly part of a family so he can leave his past life in the past.
