Koda - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in New York, New York

My foster writes: Koda is a 3-year-old, 50-pound professional snuggle muffin. His favorite place is your bed, where he'll burrow his nose under the pillows and blankets and stay as close to you as physically possible. He's the ultimate co-pilot who wants in on everything, from cooking to couch time, with a not-so-secret love of people food. He even loves bath time, though he comes out of it as "Karl," a dog with a serious case of the zoomies. Pet store and coffee shop trips are another favorite.
Koda tells you exactly what he needs, whether that's a walk, playtime, or attention. He needs long walks and lots of play, and he loves shredding soft toys (bring backups). He always needs something to "corn on the cob," kneading and chewing to self-soothe. Plain yogurt, pumpkin, and peanut butter are his treats of choice.
He's a little sensitive to loud noises and dark corners so a bit of reassurance goes a long way. He's friendly with strangers, especially women, but can get overwhelmed fast, so gentle, low-key introductions work best.
Koda is looking for a snuggly, active home with patient people who'll help when the world feels a little loud. In return, he'll give you endless burrowed-nose cuddles.

My Boroughbreaker writes: Koda was the best. He greeted me with open arms. He's very outgoing and friendly with strangers like he's known you forever. We went for a long walk to Central Park where he did great with only mild pulling and no reactivity to anything (people, dogs, kids, bikes, even geese!) He loved getting a pup cup and cooling off but I think his favorite part of the day was going to the pet store where he got a new toy. He proudly carried his toy in his mouth through the streets of NYC. I can't stress how loving and affectionate this boy is. He's all about the cuddles and belly rubs and loves getting them from other strangers we met too. He has no behavioral concerns and appears to be potty trained! He knew sit and down even without a treat. Although he enjoyed the walk, he was very happy laying down and relaxing making him a medium energy pup. Someone needs to scoop this handsome and loving boy up!

My Boroughbreaker writes: We had a long walk through central park, my friends and I got Koda new toys and he immediately fell in love with the plushie one. He walked around with his toy in his mouth all the way from the shelter to the park. The rain got to us, but he didn't seem to mind. He is not afraid of thunder, we walked some more to find a place to escape the rain. We ended up at a dog-friendly restaurant, where he was pretty manageable with some treats. Overall, we all enjoyed our time together and he is just the sweetest boy!
