Mariano is the sweetest dog on earth. She loves to play, go on walks, enjoy peanut butter treats, and cuddle with her people. She has the cutest little white heart on the tip of her nose and the funniest "kangaroo jumps" when she gets excited. Mariano is incredibly smart, gentle, and affectionate, and forms strong bonds with the people she loves. She’s looking for a home where she can feel safe, have fun, and give all the love she has to offer.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
We are DC's only open-access shelter. We are always available to help any animal in the District of Columbia. We have cats, dogs, rabbits, and more available for adoption out of our two shelters and also run the Capital Area Spay and Neuter Center.
