Hi, I'm Yeti! I'm 13lb, 1 year old adorable fluff with a whole lot of sweetness. I may be tiny, but I try to have the confidence of a Great Dane when something unfamiliar comes along. Then I remember I'm only 13 pounds. Here's my little secret: I'm a sweetheart disguised as a tough guy.
New places, unfamiliar people, and unexpected handling can make me nervous. When I'm scared, I try to look tough and brave but I do need my human to know because is my way to tell you I'm uncomfortable and very scared. I'm not trying to be the boss of the house. I'm just a little guy who needs to know he's safe. I am very responsive to love and affection and dont react well to negative/ punishment type of training.
The wonderful thing about me? Once you've earned my trust, you get to meet the REAL Yeti. I am low key, sweet, cuddly and very loving. I will lay under my fosters desk while she works and cuddle while we watch TV. I love my toys, enjoy spending time with my favorite humans, and have a lovely, moderate energy level. I'm not a hyper little whirlwind. I appreciate playtime just as much as relaxing with someone I love.
I'm also quite the accomplished little gentleman! I'm both house trained and crate trained.
As for other dogs, I get along with them just fine once we've been properly introduced. I may bark a little at first because of Im trying to let them know Im not a defenseless little fluff ball But once I'm comfortable, we can be friends. In fact right now I play with a 80 lb boxer mix and a chi mix that is quite the alpha and I get along rather well but I did bark at them when I met them the first time.
When at the veterinary visits I prefer the doctor and technicians to spend a little time getting to know me before examining me. Gentle handling, patience, and a few delicious treats can go a long way toward winning my cooperation.
My Dream Human, I'm looking for someone special: an experienced small-dog owner who understands fearful, insecure dogs and knows how to build trust without rushing things.
Someone who understands canine body language, respects my boundaries, and understands my communication style, a calm, confident person who will give me time to adjust, make me feel secure, and help me navigate unfamiliar situations without forcing interactions.
In return, you'll discover a wonderfully sweet, cuddly, playful little companion with a big personality and so much love to give. I'm not the dog who falls in love with everyone immediately. I'm the dog who makes being trusted feel like something truly special. And believe me, once you're part of my inner circle, you'll understand just how wonderful this little 13-pound gentleman can be.
I was rescued in Texas and Im looking for a foster-to-adopt family in the northern states. That means you get 2 to 3 weeks to try real life together the home routine, the walks, the treats, the bones, and all the everyday things that help you know if we are truly a fit.
Theres no pressure in the process. If for some reason Im not the right match, my rescue will quickly find me another home so everyone stays supported and safe. Its a thoughtful way to make sure my forever family is truly the right one.
Transport runs every other weekend, and Ill be making my trip north soon. Pickup locations are Winchester, VA, East Hartford, Connecticut and Brattleboro, Vermont.
The best way to apply for me is through the website: www.rociosrescues.org
You can also email rociosrescues@yahoo.comwith questions. Petfinder inquiries sometimes go to spam, so applying through the website is the best way to make sure your application is seen.
I have a feeling my person is out there... and if youve made it this far, I think we might need to meet.
