Hi, I’m Munchkin, a 2-year-old,8-pound, black-and-tan, long-haired Dachshund mix with short little legs, a sweet soul, and a brave little heart. My veterinarian thinks I may have dwarfism, but don’t feel sorry for me. I don’t. I’m a happy, healthy little boy who loves to play, cuddle, explore, and do what the other dogs do. When I went to the doctor’s office, I was the celebrity of the clinic. Everyone wanted to pet me, give me love, and tell me how cute and sweet I was. I soaked it all up like a tiny little superstar. I love playing with big dogs, and nobody has had the heart to tell me I’m not one of them. My best friend right now is a 70-pound Boxer mix who is very sweet and gentle with me, and we play together all the time. If my forever home has a bigger dog, my dog friend needs to be gentle, sweet, and careful, because I’m gonna wanna play, rest nearby, and maybe even wrestle a little. I’m brave and playful, but I’m still tiny, so I need dog friends who know how to be soft with me. I’m also good with cats, which is pretty funny because some of them are bigger than me, but that doesn’t bother me at all. I am house trained, crate trained, neutered, and up to date on my vaccines. I can be a bit chatty in my crate if I see other dogs having fun without me. That’s just FOMO, not attitude. Because of my small size and short legs, I need a gentle home that understands tiny dogs need careful handling. I’d do best in a place without stairs, or with a family happy to carry me or help me safely when needed. I can be good with children, but they need to be calm, gentle, and respectful with my little body.

I was rescued in Texas and Im looking for a foster-to-adopt family in the northern states. That means you get 2 to 3 weeks to try real life together the home routine, the walks, the treats, the bones, and all the everyday things that help you know if we are truly a fit.

Theres no pressure in the process. If for some reason Im not the right match, my rescue will quickly find me another home so everyone stays supported and safe. Its a thoughtful way to make sure my forever family is truly the right one.

The best way to apply for me is through the website: www.rociosrescues.org

You can also email rociosrescues@yahoo.comwith questions. Petfinder inquiries sometimes go to spam, so applying through the website is the best way to make sure your application is seen.

I have a feeling my person is out there... and if youve made it this far, I think we might need to meet.

My perfect family will love my quirky little legs, cuddly personality, and joyful spirit. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend with a giant heart, I might be your boy.
Love,
Munchkin.
