Meet Summer!

If you're looking for a happy, affectionate companion who seems to have a permanent smile on her face, Summer may be your girl! This adorable 23 kg (about 51 lb) sweetheart has a sunny personality that simply refuses to be dimmed. No matter what life has thrown her way, Summer continues to greet the world with a wagging tail, a cheerful face, and plenty of love to give.

Summer recently arrived in the greater Portland area after her long journey from Mexico and is now taking some well-deserved time to rest, decompress, and settle into her temporary foster home. Even after all that travel, her friendly and adaptable nature is already shining through. With her warm brown eyes, adorable speckled stockings, and perpetually cheerful expression, Summer is hard to resist. She absolutely loves people and takes great delight in being around her humans. Affectionate, playful, and eager to connect, she is ready to soak up as much love as you're willing to give-and happily return it tenfold. Summer is also a wonderful little adventurer. She walks beautifully on leash and isn't afraid to check out new sights, sounds, and experiences. She's athletic and playful when it's time for fun, but she also has a calm, focused side that makes her a great candidate for continued training. With her people-loving personality and willingness to learn, we think Summer will be a quick study and a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys teaching their dog new things.

She gets along well with other dogs and does okay with cats, making her a versatile girl who could potentially fit into a variety of homes. Summer's journey to Street Dog Hero began in San Nicolas, Mexico, where she was found alongside three tiny 8-week-old puppies. Thanks to our wonderful rescue partners at The Ranch near Lake Chapala, outside Guadalajara, Summer and her pups were given a second chance-and now Summer is ready for the next chapter of her story.

After everything she's been through, Summer hasn't lost her ability to find joy in the world. She's still smiling. She's still curious. She's still excited about people. And she's ready to shine that sunny disposition into someone's life.
