DESCRIPTION

Meet Benji - A Gentle Young Soul Learning the World Is Kind

Benji is a nine-month-old Miniature Schnauzer who weighs 13 pounds and is still learning something every dog deserves to know: people can be kind, gentle, and safe.

Because Benji was under-socialized during his early months, he's a little shy around people and still figuring out how to navigate this big new world. But every day, he's getting a little braver. Each positive interaction, gentle touch, and new experience helps him understand that he doesn't have to be afraid anymore.

Benji has a wonderfully sweet, calm nature. He isn't looking for a busy household that will overwhelm him. Instead, he needs a quiet, patient home where he can settle in, learn his routine, and continue his journey at his own pace. His family will need to understand that progress may come in small steps-and those little victories will be worth celebrating.

Benji would do best with a friendly, social dog in his new home. Having a canine companion to follow will help show him the ropes, reassure him when something feels unfamiliar, and teach him all those important lessons about how to simply be a dog.

At only nine months old, Benji has his entire life ahead of him. He just needs someone willing to give him the patience, gentleness, and security he needs to blossom.

Someday, the things that feel scary to Benji today will simply be part of everyday life. What a privilege it will be for his family to look back and know they were the ones who helped him get there.

Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog. Homes with older children are often a good fit, depending on temperament. To learn more about NMDR and our adoption process, please visit our website.
