Wally is a super sweet, social 3-4 year old Mastiff / Dogue de Bordeaux mix that weighs 70 lbs. He is putting on a little weight and should be closer to 75 - 80 lbs. when he is at his ideal weight. This big, squishy boy is full of love, and his favorite thing in the entire world is getting pets from his favorite humans. If you stop petting him before he’s ready, he’ll gently put his paw on your leg or hand to remind you that he would love if you continued on. When he gets really relaxed and happy, his little tongue starts poking out. That’s how you know Wally has officially reached peak happiness. He is a big cuddle bug who loves being as close to his people as possible. When meeting someone new, he can be a little shy at first and is very polite about introductions. But the moment he realizes you might have treats to share or are willing to provide some quality booty scratches, his squishy, mushy, affectionate personality comes shining through. He’s even a gentleman when it comes to furniture. He’ll patiently wait for an invitation to join you on the couch, and once he gets the okay, he’ll happily melt right into you for some snuggle time. With his laid back, easygoing personality, Wally would make an absolutely wonderful work from home companion. He’s perfectly content to curl up on a dog bed beside your desk while you work, entertaining himself with toys or chewing on his favorite chew bones. Although Wally is a pretty chill guy, he definitely has a silly side, too. He loves rolling onto his back on top of a rug and scooting back and forth with his legs flopping around in the air. It’s ridiculous, adorable, and guaranteed to make you giggle. He also loves treats and can be persuaded to do just about anything when snacks are involved. Want to win his heart? Come prepared with his favorite treats. When it’s time to get outside, Wally is always happy to join you for a walk or an adventure on a nature trail. He loves exploring the world through his nose, and every walk becomes a fun little sniffari with him leading the way. He’d love to have someone who enjoys spending time outdoors with him, but he’s equally happy to come home, curl up beside you, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon together. The wonderful thing about Wally is that he’ll happily match your energy. If you’re ready for an adventure, he can’t wait to be your sidekick. If it’s been a long day and all you want to do is relax on the couch, he’ll gladly settle in beside you for a nap and some much needed cuddles. He just wants to be part of your world and feel loved. He is a big boy with an even bigger heart, and he has so much love to give to the person lucky enough to call him theirs. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate, easygoing companion who will make you laugh, be your best friend, join you on adventures, and happily snuggle his way into your heart, Wally might just be your guy.

Wally is low to medium energy, so he is pretty laid back with short spurts of energy. He is the type of dog that really matches his human's energy, so if you want to go on a walk or hike, he's down to go. But if you want to lounge around and watch movies, he's happy to do that too. He just does need at least one walk per day because he loves to get out of the house for his daily leisurely sniff walk. He also loves puzzles and treat dispensing toys that he can work on to get yummy treats as a prize. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. He occasionally takes his stuffed animals apart to remove all the fluff, but he’s considerate enough to leave his handiwork in a neat little pile next to him so it's easy clean up. If his humans are busy, he’s perfectly capable of entertaining himself. He’ll happily settle down with a toy, chew contentedly on a bone, or play with a treat dispensing puzzle to keep himself busy. His adaptable energy level makes him a great fit for families who want a dog that can keep up when it’s time to be active, but also knows how to settle in and relax for lots of cuddle time.

Wally is dog and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with another large dog and co-exists beautifully with her. He also was previously with a high energy male dog, and he co-existed beautifully with him too. He's happy to play every once in a while but also likes to do his own thing. While Wally can live with another dog, he certainly does not have to. He would do fine with or without a doggy sibling. If he has a sibling, he would want one more laid back like him. He is totally fine to play with toys right next to each other, but would prefer not to share the same toy for a game of tug. Wally will leave the other dog's toy alone if the other dog is playing with it and he prefers that they do the same. He knows proper doggy communication skills and how to respect boundaries with doggy friends. He has such a laid back demeanor that he can hang out with another dog and never once try to engage with them if they aren't interested in interacting with him. When it comes to kids, he would do best with ones that are ages 10 and up. He has a big happy wiggle butt, and would definitely knock over a smaller child accidentally. He hasn't been tested with cats, but is a big fan of chasing squirrels and lizards, so it is recommended there be no kitties in the home unless you can keep them completely separated and do very slow intros with baby gates in between Wally and the cat.

Wally is kennel, leaash, and potty trained. In the house Wally is truly a dream. He has not had a single accident since being in his foster home and has not got into anything that he shouldn't. He is very respectful of the home and is not destructive at all when he is left home alone. He is comfortable going in a kennel if he needs to, but he's also fine to be left out if you have to run an errand or at night while you sleep. He tends to prefer to sleep in his dog beds and will only come onto the couch or the human bed when he's specifically invited on. When his mom leaves the house he is great about free roaming and doesn't get into any trouble. He mostly just sleeps or will get up if he hears something. Wally will let you know when you have a delivery or if he hears something outside, like the garbage man stealing your trash from the bin. He responds to a correction of a quick "uh-uh" and will go lay back down once he knows you're not worried about what's going on outside. When he needs to go potty, he will stand at the back door patiently until you let him out. He is great on a leash, and is a gentleman when he passes by dogs and other people. He can get excited initially and can pull slightly, but just tell him to wait and he will compose himself until you can close the door and start your walk.

Wally's ideal home would be one where he can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love, affection, and attention. He would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in (he really loves to squirrel-watch every day). He’d also be perfectly content in a townhouse as long as he gets regular walks and playtime. Because he does have a deep bark when he hears the Amazon driver or when someone knocks on the door, it is not recommended that he live in an apartment complex. He would do great in a family with older kids, and would love to have extra pets and cuddles. He would do well with or without another dog in the home, and would pair best with another laid back, easy going dog. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if he doesn't have a private fenced-in yard in a townhouse. Wally is an affectionate, social, sweet, and silly boy who is ready to bring endless love and happiness to his forever family.
