Please post and promote: Bear, 9 yr. old, 60lb yellow lab, not neutered is available for adoption
Background:
Bear has lived with his family since he was a puppy. With both owners working full time and then the addition of 2 children they soon had less time to devote to Bear. Now with the recent addition of a baby (along with a 7yr old and 4 yr old) they are unable to give him the attention he deserves and have made the difficult decision to find him a new home.

What Bear's Foster Says:
Bear is my first foster with GGLRR, and I definitely got lucky. What a lovely dog!
Bear is active, but not hyper. He loves to play fetch, although dont leave him alone with the tennis ball afterward—he will happily tear it apart! The same goes for fabric toys. A Kong works well, though, and really, you can throw just about anything and hell chase it. He even brought me a sock with a hopeful look on his face, ready for a game.
He loves going on walks and heels pretty well. I let him roam a bit at first to do his business and then keep him on a shorter leash. He does a great job matching his pace to mine and would love a walking or running buddy.
I think Bear would love having a dog buddy to play with, but he is also perfectly happy being the only dog. Since he is not yet neutered, I havent had the opportunity to see him interact directly with other dogs, but when we hear one barking nearby, he looks up at me and whines as if to say, Please, Mom! There is no aggression or fear when we pass dogs on the street. So far, he has only barked once—when someone rang the doorbell.
Bear can be a little aloof at first, but once he gets to know you, he is very affectionate. He has been wonderful in the house. Ive left him alone for short periods without any issues. He has never jumped up on the counters, although he is certainly capable of doing so, and he hasnt jumped on the couch.
Come sunset, Bear happily settles onto his dog bed in the family room. I just say, Kennel up, and point to the bed. I havent actually needed to kennel him—hes perfectly content to relax there on his own.
What Bear's Rescue Rep Says:
Bear is a handsome almost 10-year-old yellow Lab who still enjoys being active, loves meeting new people, and has the classic friendly Lab personality. He greeted me with a happy wag and was eager to say hello without jumping up. He has a calm, easygoing nature and was perfectly content when left alone in his kennel with me, showing no signs of separation anxiety.
He knows basic commands like sit and down, takes treats gently, and enjoys a game of fetch. Bear was comfortable being handled all over, including having his paws, ears, and body touched, and he showed no signs of resource guarding with either food or toys. Also, despite having lived outside for the past several years, he appears to be housetrained.
When he met another dog, Bear was excited and pulled on the leash, but his behavior was friendly and social, with no signs of aggression.
Bear would thrive with adopters who can provide daily exercise, companionship, and a securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy games of fetch. He'll be happiest in a home where he isn't left alone for long periods and can get the attention, and family life he's been missing.
Another dog in the household would be fine and he's good with kids, but unsure about cats.
Medical:
Bear is up to date on his vaccines and is scheduled for a check up and neuter surgery.
Bear is located in Pleasant Hill.
