Leia is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.
Meet Leia!
Leia came to us as a stray. She was found at a business park after having delivered a litter of puppies and was found by a kind family who took her and her babies in. Her puppies have all been adopted and now it's Leia's turn!
Leia is estimated to be a 2 year old boxer / lab mix. Leia is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and currently weighs about 75 pounds. Leia is ready to find a family to call her own!
Leia is dog friendly! She's been around a dozen other dogs and always does well with them! She hasn't met a dog that she doesn't become friends with. She is great about getting along and hanging out with other dogs. Her energy level can best be described as low inside the home and medium on walks with bursts of excitement. She does sometimes get excited on leash when seeing another dog, but she just wants to say hi! She's been to the busiest park in Houston a few times and she's always done really well.
Leia is kid friendly! She loves all people, including children. She's been around children ages 5, 7 and 9 and she's always been great with them! She even let them pet her puppies with zero issues.
Leia has a lot of energy in the first 5 or so minutes of her walk and will pull on the leash. After a few minutes, she'll chill out and softly pull or not pull at all. She also has a tendency to get excitable when seeing other dogs. She's getting so much better at this though! For the majority of the walk, she will walk calmly by your side.
Leia is fully potty trained! She's never had an accident inside the home. Leia's never been crated, but she can be left out to free roam and she is a total angel! She's never damaged a single thing, not even a sock.
Leia is great about sharing her food, toys, bones, treats with other dogs. She shows ZERO resource guarding and even lets other dogs take toys out of her mouth.
Leia is very chill when inside the house. She loves to lounge around; however, she really enjoys her daily walks and time to run around and explore the backyard (or apartment dog park). She also LOVES squeaky balls and loves playing fetch with them. She would LOVE a dog companion. While this isn't a dealbreaker, she's social and loves being around people and dogs. If she's in a living situation where all of the humans are gone for substantial amounts of time, then I think another dog would be important.

Leia is a super sweet love bug, low-maintenance dog. She is fully housebroken with zero accidents, has no food aggression or resource guarding issues. She's very chill and easygoing indoors, social with both people and dogs, and has a playful side (especially with squeaky balls and fetch). She's very adaptable and has handled a lot of stress in her young life (homeless and emaciated, having Leia does very well when meeting new people, both on walks and when they come into the home. She's never been scared of a single person she's met. She was obviously severely neglected but we don't believe she was ever physically abused due to her laid back nature around all people. The ideal home would also spoil her and shower her with treats, toys and snuggles. Leia loves car rides, she's super comfortable riding around in the backseat like a little human.
