Huey - Labrador Retriever and Black Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Middletown, Rhode Island

Sweet Huey has lived his life outside for eleven years! Huey is big boy at 80 pounds; he is a lot to love. Now that he is enjoying more luxuries in life, Huey is just happy to be wherever he is. He trots around with a big smile, happy to patrol a yard because he knows he has a soft bed and air conditioning waiting for him when he is ready to go inside.

Like most Labs, Huey loves water and enjoys being hosed down. Swimming would probably be a big treat and feel good to his old bones! Huey may look old and slow, but he can get some speed when he moves up to a gallop. Of course, due to his age he is a lower energy dog but still up for some easy walks.

Huey is good with all shapes and sizes of dogs. He is also completely indifferent to cats! While he gets along with dogs and cats alike, he wouldn’t mind being the only animal in the home, soaking up all the attention.

It should be noted that while being stuck outside for years on end, Huey developed a fear of storms. Which is completely understandable, honestly! However, since gaining a safe space inside, he does not seem to be as bothered by bad weather. Huey will come with some calming medication just in case he needs it!

Huey is eager to escape the long, hot summers of Louisiana and have a nice cool spot to lay his head and a cozy bed to sleep in during the colder northern winters.

Due to his calm nature and being good with all ages, Huey can fit into many homes. Huey is looking forward to spending his golden years showing his appreciation for being rescued!

Huey is available for adoption in RI on, or after, November 6, 2026
