Gomez - Great Dane Dog for Adoption in Orange, Virginia

**ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS-AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AFTER 10/27

Gomez is a Great Dane with a whole lot of dog, a whole lot of personality, and a few quirks that make him uniquely Gomez! At approximately 110 pounds and gaining slowly to a healthy weight, this handsome gentleman is a big, goofy, awkward puppy in a giant dog's body!

Gomez came to us with several other dogs after spending his life living in an outdoor pen. His world was pretty small before arriving at the shelter, and he's still learning how to navigate new people, unfamiliar surroundings, and everyday experiences. He's shy, a little quirky, and sometimes unsure of himself, but there's a wonderful personality underneath all that uncertainty.

One of Gomez's more entertaining habits is his tendency to forget who you are! Go a few days without seeing him, and you may find yourself having to make introductions all over again. He'll stand there looking at you suspiciously until you clip on his leash, and suddenly it's, "OH! Hey! I know you!" Apparently, the leash is his preferred form of identification.

Gomez is very much a work in progress, a diamond in the rough who needs someone willing to look beyond his size and see the oversized puppy still figuring things out. He needs patience, consistency, continued socialization, and plenty of opportunities to build confidence at his own pace.

Because of his size, background, and limited life experiences, Great Dane experience is required. Gomez would benefit from a home that understands giant breeds and is prepared to help him adjust to a completely different way of life. Meet and greets with any resident dogs are required.

Gomez may not have everything figured out just yet, but he's got plenty of potential, a wonderfully goofy personality, and about 120 pounds of awkward charm waiting for the right person to discover.

Gomez is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested, and receiving monthly preventatives.
