Meet Baby! This beautiful girl is around 2 - 4 years old and weighs right around 60 pounds. Baby is the perfect size and age for someone not wanting to deal with puppy or teenage Lab behaviors!
Baby’s life got off to a rough start by being dumped in the country with possibly be one of her grown puppies. That pup, Johnny, was also rescued by SAL and has been adopted and is living his best life! A kind lady wanted to help them both and we are so thankful she did as Baby is a true treasure.
Baby has the perfect Lab personality – she is happy, loving, and loyal and adores everyone she meets. While she is not a licker, Baby likes to have her nose as close to your face as possible when relaxing on the couch.
Lucky Baby gets to go to work with her veterinarian foster and meet clients in a friendly manner and wants to be in their lap if possible!
When she first went into foster care, she was very timid, but she has found her courage and is very brave to conquer every fear she meets with a few exceptions. She isn’t a fan of the TV but is coming around especially if the show is calm and the volume is low; or if you happen to have a tasty snack! It is just important to note that loud, sudden noises will startle her, but she has already made great strides in handling these situations and as her confidence grows, she continues to do better!
Baby has a playful side, and her energy level is typical of a Lab her age. She loves to hop in the air and spin around when she is excited. This is especially the case when her food is being prepared or when a ball comes out! Running after a ball is so fun much for her but she’s not giving it back unless you trade her for another ball, so you better have two on hand! Toys are also a necessity; Lambchop and Nylabone are favorites. Of course, she enjoys a swim in the pond, but this proper lady won’t jump in, she will gingerly step in the water. While she hasn’t had a chance to swim in a pool, she would probably love that or even better a chance to swim in the ocean!
Baby has gotten along well with all the animals she has been exposed to including a kitten at the vet clinic. She was a little alarmed by the strange little animal but definitely no aggression!
Baby will fit into a variety of homes. She might not do well with the chaos very young children might bring and her enthusiasm might be too much for older folks, but she is a gentle, kind soul.
One requirement for any home is that Baby has a safe, quiet place to go when she needs some space. She is happy to be in her kennel and often finds comfort under a coffee table or open cabinet. This girl will happily jump in an open dryer!
Baby loves to go for car rides, and she gets to go to work every day. When the garage door opens, Baby runs around the car at full speed until the car door is opened and in, she goes, ready for her next adventure. She hangs out in the office with her foster siblings and watches other dogs and cats come and go with no reaction. Baby is a very quiet dog and as far as her foster knows, she has never barked!
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe Baby. Her foster mom will be so sad to see her go. Baby has learned to love and trust people, and she will need a little time and patience to adjust to a new home and strange sounds. Her new family needs to be committed to lots of car rides, giving plenty of treats including fresh fruit and Greek yogurt, and a dental chew before bed! Some lucky family will be so happy to welcome Baby into their home!
