Major - Labrador Retriever and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Gwinn, Michigan

Major is a happy, affectionate 6-year-old boy with a smile that will win you over instantly. He's an active, engaged guy who loves car rides, long walks, and playtime — you'll often catch him galloping around with a big, loose, wiggly wag. He also knows how to settle in and relax with his people, curling up on the bed or couch at the end of the day.

Major already knows sit, stay, wait, and leave it, and picks things up quickly — he's clearly had some good training in his life. He's affectionate and food-motivated, loves a good belly rub, and enjoys playing with toys and chews. He only spent a short time — about three months — in his last home, so we're getting to know the real Major here at the shelter, where he's shown himself to be a sweet, easygoing dog.

Major would likely do best in a home with older, calmer children, or with some guidance on giving him space. He'd benefit from a proper introduction with other dogs before a meet-and-greet. His reaction to cats hasn't been tested yet.

Major is generously sponsored by Fox Motors Marquette, so his adoption fee is waived! If you're looking for a happy, loving companion ready for his next chapter, Major might be your guy.

These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
