RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, South Korea by some very kind humans! I entered the shelter as a young puppy and spent my early life growing up there. While shelter life can be difficult for a young pup like me, I didn't lose my friendly nature! I'm a very sociable guy who LOVES people, gets along well with other dogs, and has shown a kind, open personality to those around me.
TEMPERAMENT - I have a friendly, warm and affectionate temperament. I love spending time with people, and I REALLY love attention!! I am not a shy guy; in fact, I'm quite trusting and submissive despite my tough beginnings! I haven't shown any biting or aggressive behaviour during my time at the shelter.
ENERGY LEVEL - Medium / High. While I'm not unmanageable or overly intense, I am a young, healthy pup who needs daily walks, playtime, and opportunities to explore my new home! I would really enjoy a home where I can have regular outdoor time, a predictable routine, and positive interaction with my new family :)
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Unknown. I haven't shown aggression towards children; however, since I'm still a young guy with a medium/high energy level, my excitement may be overwhelming for very small children. I would probably do best in a home with older or dog-savvy kids!
Dogs – Yes! Having grown up around many dogs, I am comfortable sharing my space with other pups and can interact neutrally in a group environment. I do sometimes get picked on by my other puppy friends because I am such a gentle and submissive boy, so I would love an adopter who could advocate for me during playtime!
Cats – Unknown. I haven't met a kitty before! However, a cat test can be arranged if an applicant would like to confirm my reaction to cats.
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – Good / Work in progress. While I'm a little nervous walking down noisy/busy streets, my leash skills are coming along nicely! I will love an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
House trained – Work in progress. I know I'm supposed to go potty outside, but I didn't always get the one-on-one attention I needed growing up in the shelter! I may need some time to learn my new household's routines, indoor manners, and the rhythm of family life. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home!
Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.
HEALTH NOTES:
I am microchipped, neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
