RESCUE STORY - Not much is known about my early days, I was rescued as just a wee pup! I was found abandoned along with my mom and four siblings, a whole family discarded - can you even imagine?! We were trasported to a Spay/Neuter Clinic where vulnerable animals are are treated and oftentimes released. Thank goodness for kind hearted volunteers stepping in to intervene! We've since been placed in foster homes until we find our forever families.
TEMPERAMENT - My Rescuer describes me as shy but playful and affectionate with people I'm familiar with. It takes a little warming up before I'm comfortable and confident around new people and animals. I just love receiving affection from humans and will gladly take alllll of the pets! Here is a video of me enjoying a belly rub!
ENERGY LEVEL - Medium to Low - I prefer to take life at my own pace! I am slow (and sometimes timid) on walks, taking time to sniff and observe. My Rescuer thinks I'm happiest in a calm environment, however I do coexist well with dogs of all sizes at the shelter. I'm a quiet gal who is ready to blossom in a loving home of my very own!
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Yes! Here is a video of me getting love from a kiddo.
Dogs – Yes, I live with many other dogs but would likely do best with dogs of my own size.
Cats – Unknown - I don't have any known experience with cats just yet!
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – Work in progress. I can be timid walking on a leash and will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on building my confidence. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Watch videos of me walking on a leash here and here.
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)
HEALTH NOTES:
I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
