Kane - Irish Wolfhound Dog for Adoption in Vine Grove, Kentucky

Kane came to us from another rescue that could not give him the outlet he needed for his energy and the time and training he needed to learn some manners. He just arrived and we are already falling in love with this handsome guy!

He is always smiling, loves to explore and as we learned almost immediately, he LOVES water! Kane enjoys meeting new people and is interested in chasing cats, but does not seem to want to hurt them. He may need a little help learning how to successfully live with cats if that was to be his home situation.

Kane has shown some reactivity to some dogs, but an absolute doll with others. So far as we've seen, he loved seeing puppies and played very well with a young female dog. His reactivity seems to be directed more toward male dogs, but we'll continue to work with him and update this post as necessary. As of now, we will say his is dog-selective. If his new home has a resident dog, we will require a meet and greet with that dog.

We do not know how he is with kids, but given his happy demeanor, it seems like he would love a little brother or sister. We always recommend a meet and greet with a dog and children. It is also highly recommended to supervise all interactions with young children and dogs.

Kane is smart, but has not been afforded the opportunity to learn much. He was very likely not well socialized with other animals or taught appropriate manners when he was young. He will need a patient and kind family that will gently teach him and give him a loving and enriching life!
