DESCRIPTION

***SPECIAL HOME & SPECIAL DIET REQUIRED***

Nori came from a sad situation where she was suffering from a flea infestation and internal parasites. Subsequently, she had severe diarrhea for several years that ultimately resulted in multiple rectal prolapses. Her people had it repaired using a purse-string suture, but since the diarrhea was not fully treated, it kept reoccurring. After the fifth prolapse, ARC heard of the situation and convinced them to surrender her to us. We had the prolapse repaired via a coloplexy (a very expensive surgery that permanently binds the colon to the abdominal wall to prevent further prolapse). We also treated her for fleas and internal parasites and have continued prevention and treatment to stop the lifecycle.

Now, she is doing very well. At the time she was surrendered, she had lost most of her hair on her back, belly and legs, and she only weighed about 5 pounds. Now she is more than 8 pounds, and her hair is growing back very nicely! In addition to her surgery and treating for parasites, her foster conducted an accelerated diet allergy test. She was put on a novel protein diet post-surgery, consisting of rabbit, venison, kangaroo and duck. Her stole firmed up significantly and while she healed she was kept on a soft food diet to help her healing. Now, she is able to eat chicken and also dry food (Purina One Sensitive Skin and Stomach).

She is eating well, full of energy, affection and fun! She loves to play, hunting games are her favorite! She also enjoys her exercise wheel and interactive toys! She loves water too, fountains and sinks are a must! She loves to be petted, which is a win for you because she has the softest, silkiest fur ever... and it's not even fully grown back! Just wait, she will be gorgeous!

She currently lives in her own room, when she comes out, she is hissy with the other cats, but has gotten used to most of them. There are a couple, however, that she will hunt and actually chase in not a fun way. So, if there are other cats in the home, a slow introduction is a must! Her foster dog sister is pretty calm and good around cats, and Nori is getting used to her, but a slow intro with a dog friend is also recommended.

Nori is marked as "special needs" because she requires a special home and a special diet. Quality food is a must! Ideally limited ingredient foods, high in protein and limited "byproduct" and "meal" ingredients. Her stool needs to be monitored daily to ensure the consistency is soft, but not runny. Diarrhea or constipation can result in complications to her coloplexy repair.

Nori is also a "special needs" kitty because of her breed! We suspect she is at least part Bengal and her purrsonality and energy-level reflect it! She NEEDS to have a home that will provide lots of interaction and playtime. She is smart and if her needs are not met by you, she will take things into her own paws! When her needs are met, she is a wonderful cat!

Adoption fees are $80 each, includes spay/neuter, FIV/FeLV testing, core vaccines, deworming, flea prevention and microchip.
