Ellie is a petite shepsky with the biggest Disney-princess eyes, the tiniest little face, and an incredibly sweet soul. We suspect there may be something smaller—or perhaps even a little Greyhound-type lineage—somewhere in her family tree, because her delicate little head and features definitely didnt come from the Shepherd side!

Ellie is an absolute doll. She is gentle, docile, affectionate, and 100% Velcro dog. If youre looking for a dog who wants to be your constant companion, Ellie has you covered. She will follow her person absolutely anywhere and wants nothing more than to be close to you. Personal space? Ellie has never heard of it.

Underneath all that sweetness, Ellie is a sensitive girl who is still learning that the world is a safe place. She can be anxious and uncertain of herself, especially in new situations. She can become overwhelmed if another animal gets too close before she is comfortable. She looks to her person for lots of reassurance and would thrive with someone patient who can help her build confidence at her own pace.

Cats are currently a mystery Ellie has not solved. She is a little intimidated by them and does not yet understand why they have so many personalities—or why those personalities can apparently change without notice. If a cat corners her, she might let out a gremlin like yelp and runaway, but she is already learning that the resident felines aren't out to get her (maybe). With time and slow introductions, she'll figure out the whole cat thing.

Ellie has been good with children, but because she can become nervous when she feels crowded or overwhelmed, we think she would be happiest with older (8+) or dog-savvy kids who understand how to respect a dogs boundaries.

We're still getting to know this little princess and watching more of her personality emerge. What we already know is that she is an exceptionally sweet, tender-hearted little girl who bonds deeply with her people. With patience, reassurance, and a home that makes her feel secure, we think Ellie is going to absolutely blossom.

Ellie is about 45 lbs, fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped, She is kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Even though she is currently being fostered in Texas, she is heartworm negative and can travel to any state and even Canada.

Yards must be fully and adequately fenced, to be considered for our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Ellie's adoption fee of $400 includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and Harness. Out of state transport costs can range from $250- $350 depending on the destination.

Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them.

Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible.
