When Maizy arrived at Harris County Animal Shelter, she was terrified. For nearly three months, she sat quiet & scared in the back of her kennel, watching other dogs leave while she waited for someone to notice her.
Then, just as her time was running out, and her card was pulled, her foster mom stepped in to give her a chance. The trembling dog hugged her foster mama the moment she realized she was safe from euthanasia at the shelter - That moment said everything.
Today, that frightened shelter dog has completely blossomed into one of the sweetest, most loving companions you could ever hope to meet.
Maizy is Approximately 3 years old and weighs 44 pounds.
She is House trained, Crate trained, Walks beautifully on a leash.
Both cat and dog friendly and incredibly gentle with her small foster sister.
Maizy also Loves giving kisses, Loves playing with other dogs, Loves chewing on toys. She gets the cutest zoomies.

Before arriving at the shelter, Maizy was a devoted mama who lovingly cared for her puppies. Now it's finally her turn to be loved, spoiled, and cherished.
She has a calm, gentle personality and is happiest simply being with her people. Whether she's following you around the house, snuggling up for a nap, or playing with another dog, Maizy is just grateful to be part of a family.
Her foster has watched her grow from a scared dog who couldn't stop shaking, into a confident, happy girl. Now all she needs is the forever home she has waited so patiently for.

Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.
Maizy's adoption fee of $400 includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and harness. Transport fees out of Houston can range from $150 - $350 depending on destination.
Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them.
Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible.
