Meet Wendy
Wendy is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart the moment you meet her. Despite everything she's been through, this sweet girl is nothing but love.
We recently saved Wendy from euthanasia in a Houston shelter, and she'll be arriving here in Colorado next Wednesday—ready for a fresh start she so deeply deserves.
The Houston folks say Wendy is an absolute love bug. She'll greet you gently, leaning in for pets like she's been waiting her whole life for that moment. She walks beautifully on leash, keeps her kennel clean, and has been going potty outside—so we believe she may already be house trained. And can we talk about how stunning she is? Just a truly beautiful soul, inside and out.
Wendy's story hasn't been easy. She was hit by a car at some point in her past and has some weakness in her hind end. X-rays also showed old BB gun pellets in her body and changes in her hips consistent with arthritis or past trauma. She is also heartworm positive. Despite all of this, Wendy gets around, enjoys her walks, and continues to show us just how resilient she is.
Because of her past injuries and her age, Wendy may need ongoing or palliative care to keep her comfortable long-term. What she needs most right now is a soft place to land—a calm, loving home where she can finally feel safe and cherished.
Wendy is looking for:
• A committed foster or adopter willing to give her the love and comfort she deserves
• A calm environment where she can continue to decompress and thrive
• Sponsors to help cover her ongoing medical care
We are committed to giving Wendy the care she needs, but we can't do it alone.
