DESCRIPTION
Fireweed (A141776) is a 1-year-old husky mix who weighed almost 50 lbs at intake! 04/18/26 This master of the head tilt is Fireweed! Fireweed was brought to the shelter because her previous owners did not feel they had the time to provide proper care for her. Fireweed is a lot of personality squeezed into a 40-ish pound dog! She has been through a basic obedience class, but she is a free spirit who goes where the wind takes her (unless you have snacks). Fireweed is very treat motivated, and also very smart. She listens well...when there are treats involved, and there is no tricking this one! She loves walks and playing fetch! She is said to do well with other dogs, and she will try to play with cats. If the cat runs away, Fireweed will give chase, but she listens if the cat tells her to back off. She does not have experience with children, and she has been known to jump on people. Please keep this in mind if introducing her to kiddos. Fireweed is also said to be housebroken and kennel trained. However, she strongly dislikes being kenneled, so it would be best for her next home to be patient and consistent to help her learn that her kennel is her safe space. That being said, Fireweed was said to do well loose in the house, but she will get into the trash if it is left where she can reach it. If you are interested in meeting Miss Fireweed, please give us a call!
ABOUT: HUSKY DOG BREED
The husky breed is renowned for its striking appearance, characterized by piercing eyes and a thick double coat. These medium sized, energetic dogs are known for their friendly and outgoing personalities, making them wonderful companions for active families. Originally bred for sledding and endurance in cold climates, huskies are intelligent and independent, often displaying a strong prey drive. Proper training and regular exercise are crucial to keep these playful and social animals happy and well adjusted.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
