DESCRIPTION

Somewhere along the way, I missed the memo on how to be a dog, but I’m finally learning that life can be pretty wonderful! I’m Canyon, a handsome 2.5 year-old Great Pyrenees weighing in at 66 pounds, and I’m looking for a special family to help me discover all the good things life has to offer. I came into rescue as a stray, and before foster care, I had never lived in a home or even walked on a leash. I was scared to death and had so much to learn. For starters, I’m a natural when it comes to house training. Despite never having lived inside before, I haven’t had a single accident in my foster home! I’m also discovering that other dogs are pretty awesome. I love going out to play with my canine friends, and I’m finally starting to show some interest in getting attention from my people, too. I’ve always been a pretty laid-back guy, but I’m slowly discovering my playful side and learning what it means to just be a dog. I’m still working on my leash and crate training. I don’t pull on the leash, but sometimes something startles me, and I need a little encouragement to keep going. My kennel is a work in progress, too. I get anxious about being confined, and I’m still learning that I’m safe and that my people will come back for me. I need a family who understands that these things take time and who will help me build confidence at my own pace. I get along with dogs, cats, and kids, so I have the potential to fit into a variety of homes. My dream family, though, would be one where someone is home a lot and there’s another friendly, confident dog to show me the ropes. I would love a canine companion who can teach me about playtime, help me feel secure, and show me that being a beloved family dog is pretty great! I may be a little like a blank slate, but that just means I have so much left to discover. I’ll need patience, consistency, and lots of understanding as I continue adjusting to my new life. I still have some anxiety, but every day in foster care is helping me come out of my shell a little more. I’m not looking for a family that expects me to have it all figured out on day one. I’m looking for someone who will celebrate the little victories with me, give me time when the world feels overwhelming, and help me discover the confident, happy dog I’m meant to be. If you have a little patience, a lot of love, and a friendly dog willing to show me the ropes, I think we could make a pretty great team. Will you be the one to help me write the next chapter of my story?

My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip!
