Maisie is a Great Pyrenees of allegedly eight years, although we suspect there has been some creative accounting in the birthdate department. She declines to provide supporting documents.
When Maisie arrived, she was seriously overweight, heartworm positive, infested with fleas and ticks, and dealing with ear and skin infections. She was, in technical terms, a wreck. Many months of care and 22 pounds later, she is a svelte 78 pounds of healthy, happy fluff with a very high opinion of the services provided by humans.
Maisie is housebroken, well mannered, and great with other dogs, cats, and people over six. Her requirements are straightforward: a securely fenced yard and people who understand that adoring her is an ongoing responsibility. Petting is not something you finish. It is something you briefly interrupt until she raises a paw to point out your lapse.
She does have a touch of arthritis, but do not confuse that with an inability to move. Girlfriend can absolutely bust a move when she feels the occasion warrants it. The rest of the time, she is a lounging slug who sees no reason to burn calories that she worked very hard to stop carrying around.
Maisie has already done the hard part. Now she needs a home where she can settle in, be loved, and supervise the household from a comfortable horizontal position. She is a lovely, sweet, thoroughly excellent dog. Whatever year she was born, she has clearly spent the intervening time perfecting it.
