Robin is 16 months old, 90 pounds and frankly ridiculous to look at. All long legs and spectacular bone structure, this Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix is a natural-born supermodel who has no interest in attending the afterparty. He would like to go home with his people, take off his metaphorical shoes and enjoy an evening with absolutely no networking.
Robin came to us at nine months old as part of a large Anatolian hoarding case. He has made amazing progress, but he is a true introvert and will take some time to decide that new people and places are OK. He is never going to be the dog working the crowd at a brewery, and that is fine. Some of us also find a room full of strangers to be an entirely unnecessary development.
With people he knows and trusts, Robin is sweet, gentle and deeply loyal. There is a lovely dog behind that initial reserve, one who enjoys quiet company and getting to feel like he belongs. He needs someone who will give him time to settle in without treating his personality as a renovation project. He can build confidence and learn new things while remaining a fellow who prefers a small social circle.
Other dogs help Robin feel comfortable, and he has discovered that playing with a friend is a pretty excellent use of those long legs. A confident dog companion would be a wonderful match. He is also fine with cats and kids over eight who can respect his space and let him come to them. He is well-mannered, responds to gentle guidance and is quite willing to consider your proposal if snacks are involved.
Robin needs a securely fenced yard, a calm home and people who understand that trust takes a little time. When things feel overwhelming, he appreciates having a quiet place to retreat and collect himself. He does not need a packed calendar. He needs kindness, a predictable life and someone who is happy to have a very beautiful, very devoted homebody on their team.
