Meet Reece!


Reece is a 90 lb, 1.5 year old Anatolian/Pyr mix that was part of a hoarding situation where the owners were quickly overwhelmed by the numbers and just couldn't provide for the dogs. They weren't really socialized as they never left the property so Reece is still learning new things every day. He is used to the sounds of country living. You know, crickets and chickens crossing the road, frogs croaking, neighbors asking to borrow some sugar, etc. City life is new to him and he is sometimes afraid of ambient noise that we are used to like big trucks, power tools, the vacuum, stuff like that.

Despite that, Reece, while he can definitely be shy at first, is an absolute lover of all people. He's the type of dog that leans into your touch and craves the attention and companionship of his person. Not petting him is not an option!!! If you do that, you will fall victim to one of the most judgmental stares a dog could ever possess. It's not something one can survive unscathed.

For the ones on the other end of the tireless hands, Reece will go from shy and unsure boy to happy and steady companion. Once Reece is comfortable in his environment, he loves to play! Having a fenced in yard is required so this big guy can freely frolick around like the mini horse he is. He has never been a solo act so having another furry companion in his size is a must. He loves toys and will play keep away with his dog friends so they have to chase him for the toy!

Reece is okay for kids of all ages so long as they are sturdy enough not to fly across the room if a dog of his size slings his body into them and they are able to maintain a respectful noise level. Cats are okay too, although they MUST be large breed savvy. A sturdily fenced yard is required.
