Meet Memphis!

He is a handsome mixed-breed pup who looks like he may have some Great Pyrenees in his family tree! He is estimated to be around 9 months to 1 year old and will likely do a little more growing. Memphis found his way to us as a stray and was never reclaimed.

When Memphis first arrived, the shelter was a very scary place for him. He was shy, unsure, and hesitant around both people and affection. With patience and kindness from his favorite staff and volunteers, he's been making wonderful progress and continues to gain confidence every day. While he still takes a little time to warm up, he's discovered that gentle pets - and plenty of tasty treats, are pretty great!

Memphis is still learning about the world around him and appears to have had limited socialization before coming to the shelter. Everyday experiences can be new and overwhelming, so he'll thrive with a patient adopter who is willing to let him build confidence at his own pace. He walks nicely on a leash and enjoys taking leisurely strolls where he can sniff and explore everything around him.

Memphis is looking for a calm, understanding home that will help him continue to blossom. Because quick movements can startle him, he would do best with children ages 12 and older and in a lower-traffic household where he has time to decompress and settle in. He has the potential to live with another playful dog, and a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs will take place at the shelter to ensure everyone is a good fit. With a little patience, encouragement, and a pocket full of treats, Memphis is sure to grow into a loyal companion who will make every milestone along the way feel incredibly rewarding!
