9/1/26: Meet Angus (Buddy)

Angus, better known as Buddy to his handler, is a six-month-old pup who has made an incredible amount of progress in just five weeks. When he first began training, Buddy was a very fearful puppy with little experience in the world around him. He had never been on a leash, was unsure of people and new situations, and often relied on his crate as his safe place.

Today, Buddy is becoming a much more confident and attentive young dog. He has learned his name, is doing well with his sit and stay, and his recall continues to improve. He has also made great strides with leash walking and has learned to settle much better while out and about. He can still become distracted by other dogs, but his progress has been remarkable.

Buddy is also becoming more comfortable with people. While crowds, groups, and nearby loud noises can still make him nervous and cause him to seek out his safe space, his fear is no longer constant. When he feels comfortable, his playful and affectionate personality really begins to shine. He loves following his canine companion around and has even started flopping over for belly rubs!

Buddy is a sweet boy who wants to please and will do best with a patient, understanding, and affectionate family who will continue building his confidence without rushing him. Harsh training methods are not appropriate for him; gentle, consistent encouragement is what has helped him thrive.

Buddy would likely do best in a home with another friendly, confident resident dog. He has shown that having a canine companion helps him feel more comfortable and brings out his playful side, and a steady dog in the home may help him continue building his confidence.

In only five weeks, Buddy has gone from a frightened, inexperienced puppy with no leash manners to a playful young dog who is learning to trust, listen, explore, and enjoy being around his people. He still has confidence to build, but he has already shown us just how much potential is hiding underneath that once-fearful exterior.

7/24/26: Hello, everyone! I would like to say that I have just arrived at Char-Wills on 7/22/26. I came from a breeder along with 3 of my littermates. There will be more information to come in the next week or so as I get settled in!
