9/1/26: Meet Addy (Skye)

Addy, affectionately known as Skye to her handler, came to Char-Wills on July 28th from a puppy mill along with her three brothers. Having spent her life with very little exposure to people or the outside world, she arrived absolutely terrified. She had never experienced a leash, house training, stairs, different floors, or even the feeling of being separated from her siblings. In those first few days, even eating and going to the bathroom were difficult for her because everything around her was so unfamiliar.

Thankfully, Addy has come a very long way. She has formed a strong bond with her handler and is becoming more comfortable with the world around her. She now knows her name and sit, is learning additional commands, and has made great progress with leash walking. She may still pull at times, but she responds to slowing down, stopping, and being redirected. She also enjoys playing, running, and chasing balls with the other puppies.

Addy has done wonderfully with her care as well. She is eating well, has had no overnight accidents, and tolerates baths, brushing, and handling of her ears and paws. Once she feels safe with someone, her sweet and loving personality really begins to shine.

She is still a sensitive girl and can become nervous around people, particularly while out on walks or in unfamiliar situations. She may also be unsure about being picked up, jumping, or navigating unfamiliar places. Because of everything she missed early in life, Addy will need a patient family who is willing to continue building her confidence without rushing her.

A home with another friendly, confident resident dog would be ideal for Addy. She has spent her entire life with other dogs and has shown how much comfort and confidence she gains from having canine companions around. A steady dog in her forever home may help her continue learning that the world isn't such a scary place.

Addy has already made an incredible transformation from the frightened puppy who first arrived at Char-Wills. She is learning to trust, learning to explore, and discovering how much fun being a dog can be. She still has confidence to build, but with patience, guidance, and the companionship of a good canine friend, we believe Addy will continue to blossom into the loving companion she was always meant to be.

7/24/26: Hello, everyone! I would like to say that I have just arrived at Char-Wills on 7/22/26. I came from a breeder along with 3 of my littermates. There will be more information to come in the next week or so as I get settled in!
