Loretta - German Shepherd Dog Dog for Adoption in Chicago, Illinois

This sweet puppy is spayed and fully healthy! She is up to date on vaccines. She is still receiving the core puppy vaccine series and will need additional vaccines after adoption to reach full immunization. She is also microchipped!

: Housebreaking - Working on it! She is still developing potty-training skills and will need frequent outings and patience as she transitions to her new home.

: Crate Training - She is learning that the crate is a safe, positive space with continued practice. While she has been doing well in her crate overnight, she has struggled to settle when home alone. She will need to keep working on this!

: Leash walking - She has little leash experience and is just beginning to learn the basics.

: Dog-friendly - She gets along with other dogs and may enjoy having a canine companion. She has preferred to coexist rather than play so far.

: Cat-friendly - Not sure, she hasn't met cats with us yet! Slow intro required if adopted into a home with a cat.

Kid-friendly: Unknown, she has not yet interacted with kids while with us


Loretta is extremely sweet and although she may be very shy at first, she warms up quickly once she knows she can trust you. She may have had a rough start to life, having come to OTAT extremely ill, but she has now healed up and is learning to trust...and cuddle! She is a lover girl and will quite literally jump into your arms if you let her. She will lay her head on your shoulder or dig her head in your arms, because her people are her safe space. She is super food motivated and seems like she will quickly learn new things, so she would love an adopter who is excited to help teach her!

OTAT requires that all dogs 6 months and under be enrolled in a positive reinforcement training program within 2 weeks of their adoption at their adopter's expense.


Loretta's adoption fee is $350, and this sweet girl can't wait to meet you!


This pet has not been DNA tested, we are unsure of their actual breed makeup, but these are the breeds we think they look like!
