Meet Momma
At 12 years old, sweet Momma is new to our care, and we're giving her the time she needs to settle in before making assumptions about her personality, preferences, and ideal home.
Dachshunds are often affectionate, clever, curious, confident, and devoted to their people. Despite their small size, they can have big personalities and a strong sense of independence. They often enjoy companionship and cozying up with their people, while still retaining the spirited personality that makes the breed so special.
At 12 years old, she is a senior dog, and her needs may be different from those of a younger Dachshund. We'll continue getting to know her activity level, comfort with handling, and daily routines as she settles in.
The right home
We're looking for an adopter who understands that senior dogs may need a little extra patience and care and is prepared to provide:
- A calm, stable home environment
- Time to decompress and adjust
- Plenty of companionship and affection
- A predictable routine
- Age-appropriate exercise and enrichment
- Comfortable accommodations that are mindful of the Dachshund's long back
- A commitment to ongoing senior veterinary care
We're still learning who this sweet senior is. Rather than rushing to define her, we're giving her the time and space to show us her personality. We'll continue updating her profile as we learn more about what she likes, needs, and what kind of home will make her happiest.
