Meet Finn!
Finn is a sweet little Dachshund boy who came to Dogworks from a hoarding situation. He didn’t have the easiest start in life, so he’s still learning that people can be trusted and that the world isn’t such a scary place. When he first meets someone, he can be a little nervous, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up. Once he does, you’ll see what a fun, affectionate little guy he really is!
Finn loves people and absolutely loves other dogs — big or small, he’s happy to have a playmate. He’s a playful boy who thinks every toy is a good toy. In fact, you’ll usually find at least three toys hanging out in his crate with him! He also enjoys car rides and has a pretty adorable routine after potty breaks... he comes inside and gets the zoomies!
When Finn wants your attention, he has his own special way of asking for it. He’ll pounce on his front paws or give your pants or hand a little nibble. He’s just a funny little guy who wants you to know he’s ready to play!
Finn is crate trained and doing very well with his potty training, with only an occasional accident. He’s learning to walk on a leash and will need someone willing to continue working with him. He also doesn’t understand stairs yet, so his family will need to carry him or provide a ramp.
Finn would do best with a patient family who understands that he may need a little time and encouragement to feel completely comfortable. Although he currently lives with children, he can become nervous around younger kids, so we think he would be happiest in a home with older, respectful children or adults.
A fenced yard is required for Finn. He would love having another dog to keep him company, and he truly enjoys the companionship of the dogs in his foster home. We don’t know yet how he would do with cats.
Finn may still have a little confidence to build, but underneath that initial shyness is a happy, playful, affectionate little dog who is ready to find someone he can trust. He’s come a long way from where he started, and now he just needs a family willing to give him the time, patience and love to keep bringing that happy little personality out.
