Meet Comet!
Comet is a handsome 3-year-old BorderDoodle weighing around 60 pounds, and this boy is a whole lot of fun wrapped up in one big, lovable package!
Comet came to Dogworks after his family surrendered him because their busy schedule, including traveling for their kids’ sports, no longer allowed them to give him the time and attention he needed. We think Comet is ready for a family who can make him part of their everyday adventures!
He is an active guy who loves his walks, chasing tennis balls, playing with stuffed toys, and working on food puzzles. And while he has plenty of energy to burn, once he gets his exercise, Comet is perfectly happy to settle in and cuddle with his people. Really, his favorite place is wherever his people are.
One of our favorite things about Comet is the way he greets you by gently putting his paw on your arm or leg. And those beautiful, expressive eyes? They will absolutely melt you.
Comet is a very good boy who listens well and knows sit, stay, come, no, off, leave it, and drop it. He is potty trained and walks nicely on a leash. He doesn’t beg for food and hasn’t shown any interest in destroying toys or household items.
Comet does get VERY excited when meeting people and may jump up to say hello. His previous family allowed him to jump up on their arms as a greeting, so he’s learning that isn’t appropriate with everyone. He’s already improving and responds well to a firm “No” or “Off.” Once that initial excitement wears off, he settles down nicely.
When Comet first arrived in foster care, he experienced some separation anxiety and would howl when left alone. He has made great progress and now only paces and whines a little when his foster leaves. He has shown that he can work through things with patience and consistency.
Comet does well with other dogs and has shown no resource guarding, although he definitely thinks all the attention should belong to him! He sometimes needs a reminder to wait his turn for affection. He lived with children in his previous home, including children around 8–10 years old, and we believe he did well with them. His compatibility with cats is unknown.
Because Comet loves to run and has plenty of energy, a fenced yard is required. A standard fence is fine. An active family who enjoys walks, playtime and spending time with their dog would be a great fit for him.
Comet is friendly, affectionate, gentle, playful and smart. He can be a little goofy and energetic, but once he gets his zoomies out, he is perfectly content to become your couch buddy.
If you’re looking for a fun-loving dog who wants to be included in your adventures but is just as happy snuggling beside you afterward, Comet may be your guy!
He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
His adoption fee is $350.
