Looking for a loyal little sidekick who will greet you at the door with a toy in his mouth and then happily curl up beside you on the couch? Meet Drogo!
Drogo is a 9-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix weighing about 25 pounds—the perfect small-but-hearty Colorado companion! And don't let his age fool you: this sweet boy still has plenty of pep in his step.
Drogo can be shy and nervous when meeting new people, but once he feels safe, his gentle, affectionate personality quickly comes out. He bonds closely with his humans and loves being nearby, whether that means cuddling on the couch, snoozing next to you while you work, or sleeping at the foot of your bed.
One of Drogo's greatest loves is toys! Stuffed animals and balls are his favorites. Hell often greet you at the door with a toy in tow to show you just how happy he is to see you! He occasionally plays fetch but is equally content quietly entertaining himself with his collection.
Despite being 9, Drogo is still playful and loves his walks. He also enjoys running around and playing with dog friends at home. While he can get a little reactive when he sees other dogs on walks, hes easy to redirect and settles quickly. At home, he enjoys the company of other dogs and may benefit from a confident canine companion who can help him learn the routine. He's also lived with a cat for many years and is a respectful roommate who happily gives cats their space.
Drogo is house-trained, rarely barks, and thrives on consistency and routine. He does fine when left home alone but would be happiest with someone who spends a good amount of time at home—he loves being your little buddy and sidekick!
Because Drogo has shown some fear toward men, his easiest fit would likely be a home with women or with a patient man who is willing to give him the time and space he needs to build trust. His history with young children is limited, but we've been told babies and small children aren't his favorite, so a home without young kids would be best. Older teens or young adults may be a good fit.
Drogo is in great health and has been cleared by his vet. He'll be getting a dental cleaning and having one fractured tooth removed at the end of the month, but otherwise he's a healthy, low-maintenance guy.
Drogo may need a little time to decide you're his person, but once he does, you'll have one incredibly sweet and loyal best friend. Give him a safe home, a predictable routine, some fun toys, and a cozy spot beside you, and Drogo will happily take care of the rest.
Drogo is currently being fostered in Superior, Colorado.
