Meet Maple!

Maple is the kind of dog who needs a little time to show you just how special she is. At just one year old, this sweet hound girl is still learning that the world isn't quite as scary as she thinks it is. New people can be very intimidating to Maple, and she can be a little unsure of her surroundings. But she's making progress every day, and underneath that nervous exterior is the sweetest, goofiest little girl.

Once Maple starts to feel safe, her personality really begins to shine. She loves to play, has a wonderfully silly side, and is happiest when she can let loose and just be a dog. She gets along well with other dogs and absolutely loves children. She's even done okay with cats, although she was definitely interested in hers, so any feline introductions should be slow, careful, and supervised.

Maple is looking for someone who understands that confidence doesn't happen overnight. She'll need a patient family willing to let her come out of her shell at her own pace and show her that new people, new places, and new experiences can be good things. In return, you'll get to watch a scared little hound blossom into the happy, playful companion we know she can be-and there may be no better feeling than earning the trust of a dog like Maple.

And because she's a hound, her adopters should also be prepared for her to have a voice! Hounds were bred to track and communicate with their people, and that signature baying is very much part of the package. Maple isn't going to be the quietest girl on the block, but honestly... we'd be disappointed if she were.
