Introducing little miss Cyder, probably one of the cutest cockers foster mama has ever seen (she's not at all biased!) Cyder is still figuring out this whole being a dog thing--and honestly, she's having a pretty great time doing it. Exactly how old she is is a bit of a mystery. The shelter estimated 2 years, our vet guessed 1 year, and foster mom is going with "there is absolutely no way this girl is more than 9 months old." She looks young, acts young, and approaches the world with the wide-eyed enthusiasm of a puppy who is experiencing a whole lot of things for the very first time.
And just like a certain fall beverage, Cyder is sweet, bubbly, and has a little bit of fizz.
Actually... quite a bit of fizz.
Cyder is VERY vocal. And when we say "vocal," we mean she has opinions. Lots of them. She barks at the dog in the fireplace reflection. She barks at the television. She barks at people, dogs, birds, leaves, and anything else she sees out the window. Strange noises? Bark. Dishwasher running? Apparently suspicious. Something she doesn't recognize? Definitely bark.
So let's get this important part out of the way: Cyder cannot live in an apartment, condo, townhome, or anywhere with shared walls. She also needs a fully fenced backyard, not only because she needs room to safely run, but because running is one of her favorite activities.
And this girl can RUN.
She tears around the yard at top speed, often proudly carrying a piece of mulch or bark like she has just won the Fall Olympics.
Despite her enthusiasm, Cyder is wonderfully social with other dogs. She loves to play and has excellent dog manners. She'll invite the resident dogs to join her fun, but she isn't obnoxious about it. If another dog tells her, "No thanks," she actually listens and backs off. She would absolutely love having canine friends in her forever home.
But as much as Cyder loves running and playing, I think her true favorite thing in the entire world is being loved on.
This little girl is a total baby.
She'll rest her head on your lap and happily accept all the petting, scratching, cuddling, and general smothering-with-love you're willing to give her. She may have a lot to learn about the world, but she already knows one thing for sure:
Being someone's baby is pretty darn wonderful!
Cyder is also making good progress with her housetraining. She's not quite at the finish line yet, but she's learning and improving.
At around 17 pounds, she is a petite little Cocker girl with a full, undocked tail that seems to perfectly match her bubbly personality. And she is exceptionally beautiful--truly one of those dogs who is even cuter in person than her pictures manage to capture.
She may be a little loud.
She may bark at your dishwasher.
She may occasionally announce the presence of a suspicious reflection.
But underneath all that bubbly Cyder fizz is a very sweet little girl who is ready to grow up surrounded by love.
