These two adorable Chihuahua mix puppies are looking for very special adopters who understand that love, TONS of patience, and a little cheese can go a long way!

Ford and Chevy came to us having had very little socialization with the outside world. They have made wonderful progress, but they are not puppies who are ready to jump into your lap for cuddles. Even with their favorite shelter friends, they are uncomfortable being picked up or petted.

Their ideal adopters will understand that:

- They need quiet adult homes with patient, compassionate people.

- They have never worn collars or walked on leashes and will need gentle, gradual introductions.

- They do best with people who respect their space and resist the urge to touch or cuddle them before they are ready.

- They may never become confident, outgoing dogs, and that is okay!

- Cheese is a wonderful way to earn their trust!

Ford and Chevy have come so far, but their journey is just beginning. Even during walk-in adoption hours, they may need breaks from meeting new people if they become overwhelmed.

Ford is the more social, brave boy who is optimistic about people, while Chevy (blonde) is more skeptical and withdrawn. Chevy is suspicious of people and other dogs and takes much more time to warm up.

These sweet puppies need adopters who will love them for who they are, celebrate their progress, and never rush their journey. If you are interested in adopting one of these boys, please come in to the shelter during our walk in adoption hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-4pm.
