Meet Trouble, A Special Boy for a Special Feral-Cat Person

3 months old

Male/Neutered

Adoption Fee: $350

Trouble is not your typical kitten and that is exactly why we are looking for someone who understands feral and fearful cats and knows that trust cannot be rushed.

At just 3 months old, Trouble is a beautiful little boy who is still learning that people can be safe. He is nervous and partially feral, and he needs an adopter who understands that his progress may look very different from that of a typical social kitten.

If you have ever loved a feral or semi-feral cat, you already know what we mean. You know that sometimes love means sitting quietly across the room. It means talking softly when they won't come near. It means leaving treats and walking away. It means reading a book while they watch you from a hiding place. It means celebrating the first time they stay in the room instead of running away or the first time they allow you to get just a little closer.

Trust is earned. It cannot be demanded.

Trouble may eventually become a wonderful, affectionate companion. He may discover that he loves being petted, sitting beside you, or even curling up in your lap. But we cannot promise that. He may always be a more independent cat who shows his affection in quieter ways.

He may hide when visitors come. He may spend much of his time observing from a safe place. He may become your nighttime companion, quietly appearing when the house is peaceful.

And for someone who understands feral cats, those moments can mean everything.

The person who understands that a frightened kitten isn't being difficult, he is communicating that he needs to feel safe, who won't force him out of hiding, chase him for affection, or expect him to become a different cat overnight.

Instead, you'll give him a quiet room. A predictable routine. Gentle voices. Patience. Space. And most importantly, the freedom to decide when he is ready.

Trouble's ideal home is quiet and calm, with no other pets and no small children. An adopter experienced with feral or unsocialized cats would be wonderful for him.

If you've worked with feral cats before, you know that the smallest breakthrough can feel enormous.

That is Trouble's journey. And we're looking for someone who wants to take that journey with him.

If you've had feral cats before, if you've socialized shy kittens, or if you understand that some cats show love differently than others, please consider Trouble.
