Hello, friends! My name is Serenity, and I'm a tiny little girl with a pretty big story.

I'm about 4 months old, currently weigh around 6 pounds, and I'm some kind of adorable Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Based on my size now, everyone thinks I'll probably stay around 25 pounds or under when I'm fully grown. I'm already spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, so I'm officially ready to start looking for my forever family.

My siblings and I didn't exactly have the easiest beginning. Someone was trying to give us away in a parking lot when, thankfully, a wonderful person involved in rescue stepped in and made sure we were safe. Since then, we've gotten all of our vetting done and have even been working with a trainer to help us learn that the world isn't such a scary place.

I'm actually doing really well with my socialization, but I'm still a sensitive little gal. I would do best in a home with another friendly dog, because having a confident canine buddy helps me feel more secure. Cats would be just fine too. I'd prefer a home with older children, simply because younger kids can move quickly and sometimes want to touch me before I'm ready, and I'm still learning that new situations and new people are safe.

But here's the thing about me, once I feel comfortable, I am SO sweet.

I even got to visit an Alzheimer's Day Club, where I met lots of new people and made plenty of friends. For a little girl who started out unsure of the world, that was a pretty big accomplishment, and I'm very proud of myself.

What I really need now is a family who understands that I don't need to be rushed. I need someone who will be patient, gentle, and encouraging, while still helping me continue to build confidence. Someone who will play with me, cuddle with me, keep up with my training and socialization, and celebrate all of my little victories along the way.

I may need a little extra reassurance in the beginning, but I promise there is a sweet, loving, playful little girl underneath those nerves just waiting to shine. I've already come such a long way. Now I just need a family willing to help me become the best, bravest version of myself. Will you be that family?
