Dixie (aka "Honey")
Meet Dixie, a loving, curious one-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs nine pounds — she warms up quickly once she's gained your trust! She's low energy and deeply people-oriented, doing best with a little guidance and her person nearby.
Dixie is curious but a bit timid with new people and dogs, warming up wonderfully with her person's support and making steady progress each day. When guests visit, she may hide at first but comes around with encouragement. She settles well when left alone with a snuffle mat or treat toy.
She's making good progress with potty training and leash manners — she stays close to her person, checks back for reassurance, and responds well to praise. She's also showing great progress with crate training, comfortably spending an hour in her crate with a few treats and no issues so far.
Dixie's days are cozy and sweet — snuggles, walks, and plenty of time burrowed under a blanket on the couch. She's currently an only dog but might benefit from a calm, patient canine companion. She's a great fit for apartment living and would thrive in a calm household with a patient adopter ready to keep building her confidence.
