FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet the Easter litter. These puppies were actually an 8-pack that we split with a California rescue. It's a last litter and we will have the mom dog spayed for the family. DNA just came in and WOW - what a fun mix of pups. They came from a ranch environment so a lot of it makes sense. At about 10 weeks old, the are in the 11 pound range - and DNA weight guidelines actually said they would be in the 50-60# range when fully grown. Mommy (pictured here) is about 60# - we thought she looked like a collie mix.
Currently in foster homes, they are learning all things puppy - create training, housebreaking, and more! Peep is a big chunk of love. He's very sweet, all the siblings are. We are working on more photos!
This puppy is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age when they go home. They will need more puppy shots at 13 weeks, and at 17 weeks.
Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! They will cry in their crate, might need a potty break in the middle of the night. They will pee and poop in your house - your fault ;) - and will chew on your shoes, your children’s toys and maybe even the furniture. But… once transitioned into your home, will be life long companions!
The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.
Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.
Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You must be willing to start socializing and training as soon vaccinations are completed at 16 weeks. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit.
Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption applications may be approved in just a few days depending on how quickly references respond. If you are planning on a vacation or have an issue that may delay your ability to pick up your puppy within a few days of approval, please let us know in advance. We will be at an event in Arlington on Saturday 4/18 with these puppies. You must have a pre-approved application prior to taking a puppy home.
Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.
Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
