Blackie - Black Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Woolwich, Maine

Every transport, each of our volunteers has one or two favorites that just stick out to them. This transport, Blackie is one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for an adult dog and have a personal soft spot for the seniors. And Blackie fits that spot in my heart.

Blackie came from the situation that you've seen in our last few posts- her owner was taken to a nursing home and the dogs were chained outside while the owners' family figured out what to do with them. It sounds like Blackie might have been chained up longer than her canine siblings. So you know what that means- this sweet and gentle gal needs THE BEST retirement home ever. She needs love. She needs snuggles. She needs a comfy couch and soft dog beds. She needs daily waddles around the block, good treats and nutrition. And more than anything, she needs to know that she is in her final home, where she can relax and feel safe. And I don't say final home because of her age- she could have many great years ahead of her- I say it because she deserves to know the comfort and security of a forever family.

Blackie is a Lab mix, estimated to be about 9-10 years old. She is a small Lab mix at about 45 lbs. She would love a calm, quiet home with a family that can give her lots of love. Another calm and settled dog would be a great fit for her- at her age, she likely wouldn't love a rambunctious younger dog. She needs a family that will introduce her to new things as she hasn't had much exposure to the world beyond her chain. Could that be you?

Blackie is currently in AL but we hope to bring her to Maine in early November.
